Come along to the Sprotbrough Community Library Open Week taking place 22nd-29th October.
The schedule is as follows:
Saturday 22nd October 10am to 12pm
Coffee Morning – our regular event hosted by FoSL in aid of fund raising activities. A very busy morning with a warm welcome from everyone. Tea/Coffee, home made cakes, tombola with quality prizes plus hobby & craft stalls.
Monday 24th October – IT Day
10am-4pm – Come along and find out what help you can get. Need basic help with how to use a computer or how to use the internet using a PC? Want to sign up for a computer course? Find out what courses are up and coming at our library. Charges may apply for some courses while others are free. The library also offers free WiFi and computer use, including emailing. There is also a photocopying, printing and scanning facilities available for a small charge.
Tuesday 25th October – Children’s Activity Day
10am-12pm – Sand Art with KidsBeeHappy
1-2pm or 2-3pm – Meet a Creature – Reptile & small animal workshops
**Limited places on the above FREE kids activities so booking is required in advance.**
Wednesday 26th October – Community Services Day
10am-4pm – Find out what help & services are available in your local community.
Thursday 27th October
Though these are not part of our Open Week activities, but we are pleased to announce that as from Thursday 20th October our community library will become the new venue for Slimming World classes, to be held here Thursday of every week at 9.30am and also at 3pm, 5pm & 7pm. Friday 28th October – Library Services Day
10am-4pm – Find out what your local library has to offer – everything from courses, classses, group meetings, events, local information, book-lending, digital library services, meeting, conference & course room hire from just £6.50/hr, printing/copying faclities for a small charge, buying stamps, free website directory listings for local businesses (our £10 option is free if you come along on this day and sign up in person), and more.
We are also seeking new volunteers to help at the library with a variety of tasks including counter services, customer assistance, kids activities, creating feature stands, running informal social, hobby & interest groups, and whatever else may be useful to us as a community library. Please come along today (or any other day you can pop in) and find out more about volunteering with us – just a couple of hours each week can make a huge difference to keeping the library open during its current long opening hours and to be able to offer the services available.
Friday 28th October 7pm-9pm
Cusworth Singers – a local, delighful choir of singers returns to the library. £5 entrance fee. Booking is required in advance.
Saturday 29th October 11am-12.30pm
“Death by Chocolate” – an exclusive author talk by Helen Cadbury, local crime fiction writer. Come and enjoy chocolate cake and a cuppa. Free admission but advance booking is required.
Saturday 29th October 4pm-6pm
Halloween for Kids – Scary stories, dressing up and spooky activities. All ages welcome including parents with babies & toddlers. Why not drop in on your Halloween Walk if you can’t stay the whole session? Refreshments available for kids. Free to attend, no booking is required.
Saturday 22nd – Saturday 29th October – Books & Fines Amnesty Week
*Strictly during this 8 day period only, we are offering the chance for any member of Sprotbrough Community Library with outstanding fines to bring back their books and the fines will be wiped off their account! No questions asked, just bring the books back (in person) and we will remove any and all outstanding fines against those overdue books which are returned, including if someone else drops them off for you. Must be handed in at the counter. Books must have been loaned from Sprotbrough Community Library and not from any other library.
*No variation of this offer applies. Does not apply to books lost; only applies to overdue books returned directly to Sprotbrough Communty Library in person during the dates stated above.
