HS2, YES or NO? How might it affect YOU?

Information, maps and surveys about HS2 in South Yorkshire are displayed in Sprotbrough Library and aimed at informing the consultation taking place with residents in this area which comes to an end next week, 3rd March.

Come along and see:

  • Where they propose to build the railway.
  • Whether you consider it good value for money or not.
  • Whether it will be of benefit to the people of South Yorkshire or not..
  • Will it just bypass them?
  • Could it possibly even leave them worse off in the pocket?
  • And in the long run, will it provide South Yorkshire people with a better or a poorer service than they have now?

Given all the information, would you be FOR IT or AGAINST IT?

Looking for Something to do in the New Year?

Sprotbrough Community Library has a range of social activities lined up for 2017 – why not pop along and join us?!

On Tuesday 17th January we kick off with a new evening Social Club, 6.30pm to 8.30pm, mainly aimed at the 50+ age group though everyone is welcome! Entry fee is only £1.50 and includes light refreshments.

We’ll be having some light hearted games including bingo, quiz nights, etc, plus plenty of chit chat and friendly banter of course, so why not pop along. We’re also looking for people to help with running the session so if you have a spare hour or so once a week, please contact the library.

Once a month on a Thursday we are also holding Afternoon Tea at the library, so for £1 you can enjoy a cuppa and a cake or scone in a warm, friendly atmosphere.

We also have a weekly Social Group. Sometimes they meet at local cafes and pubs to celebrate members birthdays but otherwise, they meet here at the library every Friday 11am to 12 noon. This is a small group, around 8-12 people usually attend each week and new members are always welcome. Admission is just £1 per week.

Finally, every Tuesday 2pm-3pm is Happy Hour – come along for a game of dominoes, cards, draughts or chess. We’ve got the games and you’ll get a nice cup of tea or coffee too! Plus it’s free, so why not encourage your mum or dad, gran or grandad along!
